What is a BER Rating?
A BER rating is an indication of the
energy performance of your home.
It covers energy use for space heating,
water heating, ventilation and lighting
calculated on the basis of standard occupancy.
A BER Cert is similar to the Energy label for
a household electrical appliance like your fridge.
The label has a scale of A-G. A-rated homes are the
most energy efficient and will tend to have the lowest energy bills.
How to estimate your current Home Energy Rating?
Your existing Home Energy Rating can be established based on the
year of Construction of your Home and its heating Type as per the table below:
Once you have established your current Home Energy Rating
you can then plan to increase its rating so that it can become
more energy efficient.
Our standard upgrade plans
Our standard upgrade plans will typically move a Home up two
points on the BER Scale, note this will not only improve its
performance in terms of its energy efficiency it will also
increase its resale value :
As a typical Irish home with a high Building
Energy Rating can be worth almost 10% more
than a comparable Home with a low BER Rating.
